The Couch to 5K course is for people 18 and over.

The course is designed to cater for all abilities from those just starting out to others who are returning to running after a long break.

You will need to have suitable clothing and foot ware.

You are advised to bring a jacket or some warm clothing to put on after the session.

 

Hydration is import so you should bring some water to drink through out the session.

You will learn how to properly warm up.

Perform drills to which will help you to run more efficiently by improving your technique and also help your joint flexibility.

Warm down at the end of the session to avoid injury and improve recovery.

The main part of the session will start with short efforts increasing over the weeks.

This will be on grass around a small circuit so the coach can keep an eye on everybody and give advice and encouragement to participants. You maybe videoed or photographed during the session to help correct poor form and to give participant a better understanding of their abilities.

During the course we will introduce some more light hearted group exercises to show that training can be fun as well as having a benefit to your well being.

You may also get homework!! Don't worry its not compulsory, its trying to get you out running on your own, with you children or friends. We will also create a WhatsApp group so you can arrange to run with other members of the group where possible.

The aim of the course is to learn how to safely run, get fitter, make new friends and along the way have some fun. At the end of the course you will graduate by completing a 5k run supported by the club members. This may sound scary to you but we have all been through this and now how great you will feel when you have completed this and hopefully motivate you to continue running and maybe join our club.

At the end of the course you will be asked to give feedback on what you liked, disliked or anything else that you think we need to know. This will help us improve what we offer in the future.

To register for the course fill in the form where you will be ask to provide some basic contact details, emergency contacts(if available), medical details that may be important in an emergency. You can also opt out of being videoed/photographed and also how the club will use the images.

You will also need to acknowledge a declaration that you have no condition that prevents you from perform strenuous exercise. If in doubt please contact your doctor or health care professional before joining.

Once you have registered you will be emailed with a welcome message and the payment options.
