Couch to 5K – My Story

I started the couch to 5k programme in April of this year with little expectation about what would come of it. It was 10 sessions, and really reasonably priced, so I thought I’d give it a go.
Before attending the first session, I was really nervous about what to expect, and worried that my fitness levels wouldn’t be good enough. I was proved wrong! Darren, the coach, is absolutely fantastic. He made sure that everyone knew that they were only to work within their own capabilities, and not worry about what anyone else was doing.
With this in mind, the sessions were stretching, but not too difficult, and Darren was always very positive and encouraging, as were the other members of the group. He always made me push that little bit harder, but only because he knew I had it in me.
The course has now finished, and I am now running regularly, and considering whether to join the main club – last week, I ran 4 miles, which is more than I ever thought I could. Thanks to Darren and Calne SMaRTT for all the positivity and encouragement – I couldn’t have done it without you, and would recommend this course to anyone 🙂
